9:00 - 10:00 a.m. Volunteer Opportunity We are installing a native, xeric pollinator garden on the south side of the Cullen building.  All equipment will be provided including gloves. Attendees should plan to wear solid shoes and prepare to kneel on the ground. Come help beautify our campus! Outside Cullen Building
9:00 - 4:00 p.m. Community Art Project Leave your mark on a huge mural that will celebrate our SUnity. Bishops Lounge
9:15 a.m - 9:30 a.m. Unifying Ceremony Join President Trombley as she kicks off SUnity Day. Bishops Lounge
10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Coffee Conversation with Gus Crimm, ’14 Join SU community members and SU Alum Gus Crimm, ’14 for an open conversations relating to his community involvement. FJS, Room 403

  Big Questions Participants will engage in a discussion of community at Southwestern. The conversation will focus on answering “How do you define community? How do we build community at SU?” FJS, Room 148
  Yoga Session Join SU community members for a yoga practice focused on breathing, stretching, and flexibility. This session is open to all levels of yoga practice from beginner to experienced. Walzel Court

  Community Building / Group Games Join in and participate in fun challenging large group activities. Come try out any of the brand new board games and Oculus virtual reality Headsets the library has purchased. 

The Oasis Collection features board games, dungeons & dragons, and vintage video game consoles. In the future it will also include Oculus headsets.

1:30 - 3:30 p.m. Poetry Slam The Education Department is excited to host a Social Justice Poetry Slam. We would love for everyone at SU to join us to share food and drink as we listen to students, staff and faculty share poems or songs they have written related to issues of equity and justice (this could be systemic, interpersonal or individual). This will be a wonderful opportunity to share your work with the SU community and promote SUnity! Prothro Room, Library

  Mindful Movement & Meditation In Mindful Movement and Meditation, participants will engage in a series of gentle stretches and breath work led by SU Counselor Purna Bajekal followed by a short guided meditation led by SU student Andrew Cutting. This workshop is aimed at helping people quiet their mind, release tension, and decrease stress. No prior meditation experience is needed to participate and all abilities are welcome. Prothro Atrium
2:30 - 4:00 p.m. Pirates for Pirates Field Day

Participate or cheer on your fellow SU community in an afternoon full of fun games that will transport you back to your days as an elementary student. It’s a chance to let loose, get active, alleviate stress, show some community pride, and enjoy some yummy treats.

5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Pirate Parrrty Cap SUnity Day off with the Southwestern community at the PIRATE PARRRTY! All students, staff, faculty, and their families are invited to attend this celebration on Tuesday, September 13th from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Join us for free food, activities and live music at the McCombs Campus Center Veranda.   McCombs Veranda and surrounding grass
