Hispanic Heritage Month

Calendar of Events

Observed from September 15 to October 15 in the United States, Hispanic Heritage Month recognizes and honors the rich culture, history, and contributions of Hispanic communities. Originally focused on Spanish-speaking countries due to their independence days coinciding with September 15th, the celebration has since evolved. Southwestern University has expanded the observance to include non-Spanish speaking Latin American nations like Haiti and Brazil, emphasizing the diversity and richness of the Latinx communities. This inclusive approach recognizes unique cultural contributions, languages, and histories, fostering unity, education, and a deeper appreciation for the multifaceted tapestry of Latin American cultures.

See below for a list of scheduled events throughout Hispanic-Latinx Heritage Month at Southwestern University.
