Meet the Peer Academic Mentors

The Peer Academic Mentors (PAMs) are upper-level students who work to provide academic counseling to those wishing to enhance their study skills as well as those who are struggling academically. 

What We Do

Mentors are a source of academic support for fellow students throughout their time at SU. We work with students to develop effective study skills and strategies on an individual basis, design and facilitate academic skills workshops, aid students in the registration process, introduce students to academic support services, and guide students through short- and long-term planning.

The best thing about Peer Mentors is that we’re students just like you! As upper-level students we have experiences both in and out of the classroom that directly relate to whatever you are struggling with. We welcome your questions and concerns, and we will do everything we can to get you the help you need!

Braden Anderson
Physics and Business Double Major

Hi, my name is Braden Anderson and I am from Plano, TX. At Southwestern, I am a Peer Academic Mentor as well as a member of the baseball team. Some advice I can give to incoming Southwestern students is use the resources provided so that you can have the best first year of college. A fun fact about me is that I have a blended family with 4 brothers and 1 sister.

Hello! My name is Adelaide and I am from Austin, TX. At Southwestern, I am a member of Mosaic, Pre-Law Society, Student Government, Asian Student Alliance, and Peer Academic Mentors. My favorite thing about Southwestern is the Captain’s Suprise!







Katie Dorsey
Political Science Major

Hi, I’m Katie and I’m from Pearland, TX. I’m a member of Zeta Tau Alpha and the Peer Mentors. A fun fact about me is that I have a twin brother! My favorite thing to do on campus is to relax on the mall when the weather is nice!






Benjamin Imarhiagbe
Biochemistry and Business Double Major

Hi,  My name is Benjamin Imarhiagbe and I am originally from Ypsilanti, Michigan, but I currently reside in Dallas, TX.  At Southwestern, I am a part of the Honor code council and IFC, outside of being a Peer Mentor. My favorite Southwestern tradition would be Late Night breakfast. That is where all the Beyonce comes out to sing, and stressed out college kids enjoy a little entertainment. A fun fact about me is that my parents immigrated from Nigeria, making me a first generation American.






Katherine Nguyen
Biochemistry Major
Psychology Minor

Hi! My name is Katherine Nguyen and I am from Austin, TX. At Southwestern, I am President of the University Programming Council, a member of the Student Manager team at the Office of Student Activities, and a Peer Mentor. My favorite SU tradition is the ghost tours! A fun fact about me is that I learned 9 different types of martial arts over the span of 12 years, and was even an instructor.






Rebecca “Becca” Ramirez
Education (EC-6th/Special Ed) Major
Spanish Minor

Hello! My name is Becca and I am from Waxahachie, TX. At SU, I have been a part of Kappa Delta Pi, Captain’s Academy, HALO, Educators for Equity, and Art Association. My favorite thing about SU is the Cove quesadillas and a fun fact about me is that I have a collection of over 50 funky earrings!








Aria “Ari” Sherman-Weiner
Business Major
Mathematics Minor

Hi! My name is Ari and I am from Austin, Texas. At Southwestern, I am a member of Alpha Xi Delta, Robertson Proctoring, Student Health Advisory Council, Honor Code Council, and Peer Mentors. My favorite thing to do at SU is late night trips to the cove with my roommates. A fun fact about me is that I have two pugs.
