Self-Care Saturdays

Self-Care Saturdays are for you! In the midst of tests, homework, organization involvement, volunteerism, and so much more, we can sometimes forget to take care of ourselves. Join Mosaic and a variety of campus partners on Saturdays for activities that will serve your physical and mental health as a college student. These programs will help you develop and practice a holistic understanding of self-care. 

 

All attendees will receive giveaways that will help jumpstart your self-care routine, and students who attend 3 or more Self-Care Saturdays to be entered into a drawing for a HUGE self-care bundle!

Collect pins at each event and add them to your Self-Care Saturday’s tote bag! In case of inclement weather, the rain site will be communicated to all RSVPed students.

Saturday, August 28th: Setting Intentions

Welcome to Mosaic’s first Self-Care Saturday event of the fall semester! This event is a part of a holistic series to help encourage you to be consistent and mindful with how you practice self-care. Self-care is more than just putting on a face mask and taking a hot bath, so with this program, we aim to help you develop healthy habits for a well-managed and balanced life. Join Mosaic for games, prizes, and a fun arts and crafts project that will emulate our holistic series and help you set your intentions for the semester!

Saturday, September 18th: Time Management & Sleep

Join Mosaic and SU’s Peer Academic Mentors as we explore how establishing good time management skills and a good sleep schedule will help you lower your stress, improve your focus, and achieve your goals! Managing your time can affect your everyday life, mood, and even how you study. Come to learn some helpful tips on being mindful of your time and patterns to achieve a more well-rounded life.

Saturday, October 2nd: Meditation

Purna Bajekal from the Counseling and Health Center will lead us in exploring how to use meditation as a mindfulness practice. While we are constantly trying to juggle various responsibilities in school, jobs, and organizations, while also navigating the stressors of the world today, meditation can give you a sense of calm, peace, and balance that can benefit your emotional well-being and overall health. Developing a regular practice of meditation can help reduce stress and anxiety, as well as help you have a more positive outlook on life!

Saturday, October 23rd: Sustainability & Nutrition

Our environment has a direct impact on our physical health and well-being. Healthy communities need clean air, a non-toxic environment, and nutritious food. This Self-Care Saturday will explore how sustainability, gardening, and nutrition can help create a healthy planet and a healthier you! Establishing a practice of nutritious eating is essential to your overall well-being and long-term health. Learn about the personal and climate benefits of gardening and a sustainable lifestyle. Join Mosaic and our environmental campus partners and Health Educator for a fun outdoor event! Join SEAK on a sustainability tour of campus, work in the SU garden with the Garden Club, and naturally tie-dye your SCS tote!

Saturday, November 13th: Movement

Get moving with Mosaic and Exercise is Medicine! In the midst of a busy semester, we can sometimes forget about the importance of moving our bodies. Movement is helpful to your physical AND mental health – it gives you healthy joints, increases circulation, helps with digestion, metabolism, and immunity, and it can even help with improved learning skills and circulation! This week’s Self-Care Saturday will introduce you to some basic yoga poses for stress relief and exercises you can do in your room. We’ll also get moving with a walk around campus!

Saturday, December 4th: Weekend Wind-Down

It’s been a busy semester of learning, exploring, and interacting on campus! Come join Mosaic and your peers for our final Self-Care Saturday as we wind down from the semester. Play some games, eat some food, participate in mindful guided discussion about self-care practices, and mingle!
