Henry JoynerHenry Joyner retired as Senior Vice President–Planning of American Airlines in 2009. In that position, Mr. Joyner directed the company’s strategic planning activities, including scheduling, revenue management, corporate real estate, fleet planning, airline alliances, and international regulatory affairs. During his 29-year tenure at American, Mr. Joyner held a number of other executive marketing and planning positions and was involved in the development of the AAdvantage frequent-flyer program, the industry’s first. Mr. Joyner currently serves on the boards of the Texas Methodist Foundation and The United Methodist Development Fund.

Henry graduated magna cum laude from Louisiana State University in 1976 with a degree in history. He attended graduate school at the University of Chicago, earning a master’s degree in Far Eastern languages and civilizations in 1978 and an MBA in 1980. Prior to his election to the board, Henry served as the chair of Southwestern’s board of visitors. He currently serves as the vice chair of the board of trustees.
