Established in 2006 by Russell ’66 and Ann Cater Ramsey ’67, in memory and appreciation of their parents Sam and Eunice Cater and Bennis and Diane Ramsey, who gave all their children college educations. Ann credits her sister, Doris Cater Smith ’61, now deceased, for her own decision to attend Southwestern because of Doris’ great enthusiasm for the University and its professors. Russell’s experiences at Southwestern led to his brother, MarkRamsey ’73, deciding to enroll. Their daughter, Suzanne Ramsey Moran, and her husband, Mike Moran, both ’93, attended, as did Mike’s two sisters, Mollie Moran Bryant ’96, married to David Bryant ’95, and Maggie Moran ’05. It is hoped the scholarship will enable a student to begin another tradition of Southwestern graduates. Scholarships shall be awarded to students who demonstrate financial need and major in history.
