I was born in Chicago, IL, but moved to a small bordertown in the Rio Grande Valley called Roma, TX, when I was only three years old. There is no doubt that Roma is my home, and I am so grateful to have been raised in a town that is so close to the rest of my family in Mexico.

Southwestern is such a special place in that the entire university community is committed to each individual student’s success. At Southwestern, your curiosities are celebrated, and there is genuine support across the entire campus.

Ask as many questions as you want! It helps you uncover the challenges you’re facing and generate better solutions. It feeds your soul with interactions and conversations. It’s completely normal to feel uncertain right now, but know that we welcome any and all questions because we want to help you be the best person you can be.
Dos Salsas is at the top of the list for me, serving the best puerco en guajillo in town!
Georgetown offers many beautiful hiking trails and parks! I especially love running with my rescue dogs and playing basketball at the San Gabriel River Park & Trail.
I absolutely love catching up on work or with friends at Mozart’s Coffee Roasters. It’s a beautiful café that overlooks Lake Austin. They have live music and an amazing dessert selection!
When I was in college, I interned with South by Southwest (SXSW) and fell in love with Austin’s music scene and culture. On the weekend, you can find me at a live performance somewhere in town.
You can definitely catch me making arts and crafts, like holiday decorations or wreaths! I absolutely love the holidays and am lucky to have family and friends that don’t mind me decorating for Halloween and Dia de los Muertos in August.
I was the first female trombone player to place first chair in the entire Rio Grande Valley when I was 13.
If You Could Have Coffee with Anyone, Who Would It Be?
I would have coffee with Michelle Obama. She leads by example and holds a special place in her heart for equal-opportunity education. She’s also really funny!

Advice to College Self
I would tell my college self to be confident. There were many times in the classroom when I wanted to participate or engage in a lecture or conversation but instead held back because I was scared or insecure.
