Scarlett Moss

Scarlett J. Moss ’86 was appointed chief marketing and communications officer and vice president for integrated communications for Southwestern University in January 2020. Moss is an alumna of the University having received her bachelor of arts degree in political science in 1986.

Moss joined Southwestern from Swire Coca-Cola, USA, where she was executive vice president for public relations and government affairs and played an integral role in building the company’s corporate communications team and capabilities. Prior to that, she was vice president of state and local government affairs for Coca-Cola North America.

A proven strategist and team builder, Scarlett has a reputation for creative thinking and adroitly navigating politically charged situations. She has worked for global public-relations agencies Edelman and APCO Worldwide to provide counsel to clients facing reputational and crisis management issues. Moss began her career by managing national, state, and local political campaigns across the country.

She served as president of the board of trustees for Vashon Center for the Arts, where she spearheaded a $20 million capital campaign to build a new performance hall. She is a former member of the board of Hope Heart Institute, United Way of Salt Lake City, and Utah Food Industry.

While she was an undergraduate at Southwestern, Moss was a member of Student Foundation and a part of the University’s first study abroad program in London. She is an avid art collector, golfer, and sailor and enjoys combining her hobbies with her love of travel.
