What would be your advice to prospective students about the college search?
Reach out to whoever you can! Your admission counselor, alumni, current students, anyone who could give you more insight on what life is really like on campus. Finding the right fit is so important, and there are others who are willing to help you!

Why should students attend Southwestern?
The community here is so welcoming! The opportunity you have to engage other students, staff, and your professors creates a wonderful space to grow and thrive.

What are your favorite restaurants in Georgetown and why?
Dos Salsa, sort of staple, and you can’t beat the plate sizes for the price! Also, great salsa (unsurprisingly).

What are your favorite restaurants in Austin and why?
Kobe Steakhouse is a great hibachi style place up north. There are also Don’s and Halal Bros in central Austin which are both fan favorites.

What is your favorite thing to do in Austin and why?
My favorite thing to do in Austin is enjoy an afternoon by the water, either by Barton Creek or Bull Creek. Bonus if dogs are allowed!

What is your favorite SU fun fact?
It is the oldest university in Texas! (Still amazes me!)

What is your favorite SU tradition?
Not stepping on the seal until you graduate. Even if you don’t believe in it, you’re not going to step on it beforehand, just in case.

What is your favorite place on campus?
I love the small courtyard by the chapel. It really provides a peaceful seclusion when you need a quiet moment.

What are your hobbies?
Playing with my dogs, reading fantasy/sci-fi books, and watching sports.

Electa “Mutiny” Marks

What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
I wanted to be an engineer until my freshman year in college, then I jumped ship to liberal arts.

If you could have coffee in the Cove with anyone in the world, living or dead, who would it be and why?
Brene Brown. She has such interesting ideas and stories one a plethora of topics, such as vulnerability and trust.

When not at work, you can find me…
Probably laying on my living room floor playing with my son and dogs.

If you could choose one superpower, what would it be?
Invisibility - you can go anywhere without being detected.

What advice would you give your college self?
Don’t forget your accomplishments. You’ve achieved things, don’t forget that just because there may be something more you want to do.

What is your anthem?
“Cross Me” - Ed Sheeran, Chance the Rapper, & PnB Rock

What app do you use the most?
YouTube - the Try Guys are my jam.

What is your zodiac sign and do you believe it matches who you are?
I’m a Cancer, which is known to be very nurturing. I feel this speaks to a large part of myself. Even if others think it’s a bunch of hooplah, it’s a great way to get a conversation started on who someone is.
