Vice President for Finance and Administration
Mr. Craig Erwin joined Southwestern University as the Associate Vice President for Finance in August 2012 and was appointed to his current position as the Interim Vice President for Finance and Administration in October 2014. Prior to Southwestern, he served six years at Bellevue University, in Bellevue, Nebraska, as the Associate Vice President for Finance & Accounting and earlier as Controller. In addition to his higher education experience, he held senior finance positions in the corporate sector in healthcare, financial services, and telecommunications.
Mr. Erwin obtained a Bachelor’s of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Louisiana Tech and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Texas Christian University’s Neeley School of Business. He is a member of the National Association of College and University Business Officers and the Southern Association of College and University Business Officers. Mr. Erwin is a trustee of the Minchen Beville Foundation and the Leola W. & Charles H. Hugg Trust.
As Vice President for Finance and Administration, Mr. Erwin serves as the University’s chief financial officer providing management oversight to four primary functions: finance (business office, budget, endowment, and post office); facilities and campus services (physical plant, construction, and campus safety); human resources (payroll, personnel, and benefits); and auxiliary services (bookstore and food service). Mr. Erwin oversees all legal matters and is responsible for compliance, risk management, and emergency response issues.
Mr. Erwin’s community service activities have included serving as a volunteer, project coordinator for the United Way of the Midlands, and volunteering his time for the American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, and Food Bank for the Heartland. In addition, he supports his children in participating as a youth coach for their soccer, baseball, and volleyball teams.
