It feels like I left SU just yesterday, but a million amazing things have happened since then. After graduating in 2010, I went on to earn my Master’s of Science in Social Work at UT-Austin. While in grad school, I had a variety of academic internships and part-time social services jobs–one of which was as an advocate at loveisrespect, a project of the National Domestic Violence Hotline. I immediately felt at home there and discovered a passion for crisis intervention and healthy relationship education. I stayed on with loveisrespect after finishing my master’s degree, and in 2013 I was lucky enough to advance to my current position of Digital Services Operations Manager for the National Domestic Violence Hotline. I’ve had amazing opportunities there–spoken to national news outlets and even met Vice President Joe Biden. What do I have planned next? No idea! So far just keeping my nose to the grindstone and soaking up knowledge and challenges at every turn has panned out well. For now, that’s the plan!
