One Million Bones is a project to raise awareness of victims and survivors of genocide and other mass atrocities committed throughout the world and still being committed in places like the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sudan, Burma, and Somalia. The project is collecting handmade bones for a collaborative art installation on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

Southwestern University is contributing to this art installation by creating handmade bones and raising funds with every bone created. Every bone made will generate a donation of $1 from the Bezos Family Foundation in support of CARE International for relief and rebuilding programs.

All of the bones created at Southwestern University will become part of a large installation to be on display at UT Austin in November. In the spring of 2013, the bones at UT Austin will join the art installation on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. For more information go to www.onemillionbones.org.
