Dr. Penningroth’s talk, “The Preacher’s Wife: Law, Divorce, and Respectability among African Americans, 1865-1930,” was extremely well-received by the campus community. We were all delighted to hear that he has received the prestigious honor of being named a 2012 MacArhtur Fellow (popularly known as the “Genius Award”). Congratulations to Dr. Penningroth! Make sure to come to the History Colloquium this year to meet another important scholar!
