Marie Muhvic Following a national search, Southwestern University is pleased to announce the appointment of Marie Muhvic as Vice President for University Relations. A seasoned professional with a distinguished career in successful fundraising roles at private and public universities, Marie brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of transformative leadership.

Marie will join Southwestern from Drury University where she played a pivotal role in achieving increased alumni giving participation, acquiring new major gift donors, securing 63% of Campaign commitments in a year and a half, bringing in the highest annual fund total amount. Beginning her tenure in February 2024, Marie is set to bring her expertise to further elevate Southwestern’s commitment to philanthropy and academic excellence.

President Laura Skandera Trombley expressed enthusiasm about Marie’s appointment, stating, “We are thrilled to welcome Marie Muhvic to the Southwestern University community. Her proven ability to cultivate meaningful connections and secure transformative gifts make her an ideal fit for the role of Vice President for University Relations.”

Marie began her fundraising career at the University of Tennessee, followed by key roles at Princeton University, Fairfield University, St. John’s University in New York, the University of Bridgeport, and Sacred Heart University.

Marie is recognized for her ability to grow donor bases, execute comprehensive campaigns, enhance transparency and communication, and build strong relationships with stakeholders. Her dedication to the mission and values of Southwestern University makes her an exceptional addition to the leadership team.

Marie shared, “The mission and focus on the power of education, inclusion, and engagement to change lives and positively impact communities at Southwestern University resonate with me deeply. I am eager to contribute to the institution’s current and future success, the commitment to diversity, social mobility, and real-world solutions, and the greater Georgetown community.”

Marie holds master’s and bachelor of science degrees from the University of Tennessee and the University of Wisconsin, respectively. Her collegiate tenure was distinguished by her participation as a Division I and Division III soccer student-athlete.

Eager to engage with the Southwestern University community, Marie looks forward to contributing her expertise to advance the institution’s mission. She anticipates collaborating with President Laura Skandera Trombley, faculty, staff, students, and alumni in fostering a culture of philanthropy and success.
