Central Plant Operator (2 positions)

Southwestern University has an immediate opening for a Central Plant Operator. This position works 40 hours a week, shift work (including weekends) while maintaining contact with the switchboard operator and handling Facilities Management emergency calls that come in after normal hours of operation. This position reports to the Supervisor of Central Plant and includes the University’s full benefit package.
Duties: Chiller operations, along with monitoring building environments; conduct testing analysis of water for cooling towers, closed loop hot and chill water systems, and swimming pools and fountains and treat with chemicals as required; prepare and maintain charts and records and analyze data obtained; operate computerized energy management system; operate and monitor chillers, cooling towers, boilers, pumps, and related equipment and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Must have a high school diploma or GED and a general operating knowledge of chillers, mechanical equipment, boilers and air conditioning systems. A minimum of one year of experience in central plant operator/mechanic environment is required with more than one year of experience preferred. Must possess good oral and written communication skills and be able to follow oral and written instructions, lift heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and the ability to work both independently, without close supervision, and also as a member of a team. Current valid Texas driver’s license in good standing is required.
