Staff Instructor in Accounting

The Department of Economics and Business at Southwestern University invites applications from qualified candidates for a full-time Staff Instructor in Accounting starting the fall semester of 2021.
Position. The Staff Instructor in Accounting position will involve teaching some of the following courses: fundamentals of accounting (which covers financial and managerial accounting), auditing, and intermediate accounting. The typical teaching load will be three courses per semester, in addition to University service requirements which include advising students and participation on University committees. The candidate should have at least 18 hours of graduate coursework in accounting and/or a current CPA license. Substantial industry experience in accounting will also be considered in candidate evaluation. Experience working with diverse populations (students, clients, or other groups) is highly valued.

Interested applicants should submit (1) a cover letter that speaks to their desire to teach within a liberal arts university setting with a diverse student population, (2) a curriculum vitae or resume, (3) a brief statement of teaching philosophy and interest and experiences working with diverse student populations, (4) two confidential letters of reference (at least one addressing teaching performance and/or potential), and (5) a short list of courses in which you have a strong interest in teaching. The entirety of the interview process will be conducted virtually.
