Dining at the Commons will look decidedly uncommon this fall. That’s because we’ve made a number of changes so you can enjoy your meal safely while slowing the spread of COVID-19. We’ve rearranged some seating, spaced out tables, added plexiglass barriers, and installed signage to help you stay physically distant from your fellow diners. New outdoor dining areas and seating are also an option. We’ll still offer tasty meals to remind you of home, but instead of serving yourself, now our masked-and-gloved staff will serve them to you at the various stations (Ms. Ella has been practicing her smize all summer). And we’ve expanded our hours for all-day dining during the week to de-densify the dining hall.

Prefer to get takeout? No problem. You can order your meal for pickup from the Commons, the Merzbach Room, or the Cove through the new Bite app. We’ll even give you your very own reusable container at your first trip to the Commons. Simply exchange your to-go box for a new one each time you visit the Commons or the Merzbach Room and load it up. In a hurry? The Cove will offer a variety of grab-and-go options in addition to fast meals you can order at the grill.

No matter your dining preference, we’re looking forward to welcoming you and your appetite back to campus. If you have any questions, please visit our campus dining FAQs and Southwestern’s reopening policies.
