On Monday, July 13, 2020 The Caring Place will receive assistance in fulfilling its mission to provide for the basic human needs of all people in Georgetown and northern Williamson County. The Cullen Trust for Higher Education (Cullen Trust) and Southwestern University have teamed to make a substantial donation to The Caring Place as part of a community-wide fundraising campaign, Spirit of Caring. The effort is part of an emergency response to help individuals and families who have been hit hard by the COVID-19 crisis.

The Caring Place provides services to over 6,600 individuals in its community. Last year the organization provided $773,319 in direct services. This year, the pandemic and economic downturn are expected to significantly increase the needs of the community.

The creation of a new campaign to support the work of The Caring Place comes as part of a statewide initiative, The Spirit Food Fund, launched by notable Texas businessman, humanitarian, and philanthropist, Corby Robertson, Jr. By utilizing the capacity and networking of an organization he founded, Spirit Golf Association, Robertson’s vision is to increase support for community organizations at a time when their constituent needs are growing. The Spirit Golf Association launched the Spirit Food Fund in May as an emergency response to the COVID-19 pandemic to raise $2 million and recruit hundreds of volunteers for the Houston Food Bank.

Members of the media and Georgetown community are invited to the event.
