The Professional Grounds Management Society (PGMS) recognized Southwestern University with an Honor Award in the Society’s 2018 Green Star Awards® competition. The award was given in the University and College Grounds category for exceptional grounds maintenance. Winners were honored during the Society’s 2018 Awards Dinner held Oct. 18 in conjunction with the School of Grounds Management & GIE+EXPO in Louisville, KY, Oct. 15-19.

Manager of Facilities Services Randy Erben accepted the award on behalf of Southwestern’s Ground Services team.

“The Grounds Services team works hard everyday to insure that our campus is always a place where students, faculty and staff can take pride in saying this is my Southwestern,” Erben said. “I was honored to accept the award on their behalf.”

Southwestern’s Ground Services team oversees approximately 700 contiguous acres. The campus is known for its wooded appearance, with more than 1,700 trees on campus that bring much needed shade during the hot Texas summers.

The Green Star Awards program brings national recognition to grounds maintained with a high degree of excellence, complimenting other national landscape award programs that recognize outstanding landscape design and construction.
