Since moving from Panama to Georgetown five years ago, Laura Rativa ’21 has learned a new language, graduated from high school, completed her first year at Southwestern, become and American citizen, shadowed judges, held numerous leadership positions, and completed more than 2,000 hours of community service, all while working part time. And now she has her sights on becoming a United States Supreme Court justice.

“My dream is to become a U.S. Supreme Court justice and make a great impact in the world,” Laura says. “Some may think it is almost impossible for a Hispanic woman to reach the Supreme Court. I challenge them to think differently—like Sonia Sotomayor did.”
