As far as Edward Burger is concerned, college students need more than anything to become agile thinkers. And as president of Southwestern University since 2013, he’s trying to reinvent higher education with that goal in mind.

Central to the effort is Paideia, an interconnected curriculum that Burger is putting on steroids at Southwestern. Paideia (pronounced pie-DAY-uh), is a Greek word referring to the education and training of a well-rounded person.
