Southwestern students and alumni often describe our location as “the best of both worlds.” Georgetown provides easy access to Austin while maintaining that friendly, small-town charm.

With new restaurants and retailers popping up on the square, breweries, shopping, and tons of outdoor activities including miles of trails and the picturesque Blue Hole, it’s easy to fall in love with G-town.

Of course, we may be biased but we’re not the only ones who feel this way! Texas Monthly featured Georgetown in its current issue. The article, Hip to Be Square, highlights the blending of our historic past with new local favorites. Lauren Smith Ford’s rich descriptions of the town’s hot spots help describe why “Georgetown has become a destination while still retaining its small-town character.”

One of Georgetown’s signature events is the Red Poppy Festival. This family-friendly festival has something for everyone, so if you’ve been wanting to visit Georgetown that’s a great weekend to check it out. Then again, we think any day is a great day to be in Georgetown!
