Pirate Bike

For high school seniors from South Texas who have been offered admission to Southwestern for the 2024-2025 academic year. Transportation, lodging, and on-campus meals will be provided at no cost to the student.

Interested in catching a free ride to Southwestern? While we usually recommend grabbing a Pirate Bike to get you anywhere you need to go (on campus, at least), we also recognize that biking from South Texas to Southwestern may take a while—as long as 33 hours without stopping, according to Google Maps. If you really want to bike here, we won’t stop you; but for everyone else, consider joining us on Destination: Southwestern!

Experience for yourself what it’s really like to be a Southwestern Pirate: engage directly with students; meet our faculty by sitting in on a class or visiting them during office hours; enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the Commons; hear from a financial aid advisor; and tour campus. The best part of it all? We’ll cover transportation, lodging, and on-campus meals!

  • This opportunity is for first-year students who have been offered admission to Southwestern.
  • While there is no cost to students, you may wish to bring spending money for shopping at our book store and/or other incidentals.
  • You will be hosted by a current student and should bring anything you may need for an overnight stay/trip.
