I will devise and produce an original theatre performance modeled after experimental theatre formats designed to situate audience members as active participants rather than passive observers. I intend to change four essential aspects of traditional theater for this performance. First, the setting for the performance will change: this will be ‘site-specific’, a performance outside of a defined theater space. Second, the performance will push the boundaries of both traditional theatre and site-specific performances by dispersing actors across different spaces and having the audience move through multiple locations. The audience will be mobile rather than sitting still. Third, the performance will be audience-interactive. This challenges typical theatre dynamics by directly bringing audience members into the action of the play, and having them help further the plot. Finally, this performance is different because it will be performed for an audience of one at a time. In this unique format, audiences view the action as individuals—they can’t get lost in the crowd.
