Southwestern University’s Sarofim School of Fine Arts will present Prism of Remembrance: 9/11, “Vita Brevis, Ars Longa,” on Wednesday, September 11, 2002 at noon and 8 p.m. in the Alma Thomas Theater.

This event will involve both faculty and students from the Departments of Art, Music, and Theatre who will each contribute material that memorializes those who perished in the terrorist attacks one year ago. In a Prism concert, “capsules” of performers are scattered throughout the theater and then perform consecutively, without break. This imitates the process by which light shining through a prism gives off many different colors and perspectives from the same source or theme.

This event is free and open to the public. The Alma Thomas Theater is located in the Fine Arts Center on the campus of Southwestern University, 1001 East University Avenue in Georgetown, Texas. For more information, contact The Sarofim School of Fine Arts at (512) 863-1504.

The Lois Perkins Chapel will open for prayer and meditation September 11 from 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. A brief devotional will be offered at 7:30 a.m. by Beverly Jones, University Chaplain. Prayer candles and prayer guides will be available in the chapel throughout the day. The Rutersville Bell will be rung in front of the Brown Fountain from 11:50 a.m.-noon to honor those who gave their lives on 9/11.
