Pirate Bikes
The Pirate Bike Program started in September 2005 with a fleet of 30 Atlas bikes. Southwestern is the first university in Texas to offer a free bicycle program.

The Pirate Bike Program is the latest means of transportation for students, faculty, and staff on SU’s campus.
Members of the campus community may pick up a Pirate Bike outside of their residence hall, academic building, or anywhere else on campus, free of charge, for their own use.
They may ride to their next location and leave it unlocked for the next person.
Heidi Meyer, sister of the late Wally Meyer ’86, provided the financial resources for Southwestern to purchase the first thirty bikes for the program.

BIKUS is a mysterious student group dedicated to improving knowledge about and appreciation for pirate bikes.
