San Gabriel Park is graced with 200 year-old oaks that offer the shade of their branches to family picnics, games of touch football or Frisbee, concerts, festivals, canoeing, swimming and fishing.
Georgetown Square is at the heart of Old Georgetown. And surrounding the historic courthouse in the center — along Main and the surrounding streets — you’ll find dozens of businesses, restaurants and historic homes.
The Williamson County Courthouse is located in the Town Square. Built in 1911, the building survived three major renovations including the demolition of its key architectural features in 1966. It was last renovated and reopened in 2005-07.
The Parks and Recreation Department has more than 7 miles of hike and bike trails along the San Gabriel River. There is a 1.7-mile granite trail that loops around San Gabriel Park. On the North San Gabriel River, there is a 5.6-mile trail that goes from San Gabriel Park to Lake Georgetown. On the South San Gabriel River, there is a one-mile lighted concrete trail that starts at San Gabriel Park and goes to Blue Hole Park.
With an onion dome spire soaring majestically from the corner tower, the Masonic Lodge is an unmistakable piece of the Georgetown’s skyline. The ground floor first housed a drugstore and the post office before a furniture store took possession. The Masons continued to meet upstairs until 1982 when the building was sold.
The Chisholm Trail Cattle Drive is one of many local events that celebrate the history of Georgetown and its history.

Blue Hole is a scenic lagoon on the San Gabriel River. The entrance to Blue Hole Park is located at Second Street and Rock Street, one block west of N. Austin Avenue. This scenic park lined by limestone bluffs is a good wading spot to cool down a little bit in the summer.
Located at 810 South Austin Avenue, the Palace was built in 1925 by A. C. Moore of Bartlett, Texas. It originally hosted silent films, then “talkies,” eventually closing then reopening as a live performance theater.
The Red Poppy Festival marks the coming of spring and the arrival of the Red Poppy Flower. These flowers have been a part of Georgetown’s heritage and landscape for over seventy years, a fact certified by the Texas legislature in naming Georgetown as the “Red Poppy Capital of Texas.”
