The Sarofim School of Fine Arts is excited to announce the flute concert of guest artist Kristen Stoner, accompanied by faculty pianist Kiyoshi Tamagawa.

Kristen Stoner is a professional flutist and a professor at the University of Florida. Her extensive research in Latin American flute music has infused her performances and lectures with a unique global perspective, and she has been invited to perform and teach classes across South America at venues in Chile, Brazil, Peru and Ecuador. A strong supporter of new work by women, Dr. Stoner has often showcased female-composed flute music at major national and international music festivals. She has also competed in renowned competitions across the U.S., including the Myrna Brown Competition in Dallas, the NFA’s Young Artist Competition, and Chicago’s Flute Talk Magazine Competition. Outside of her position at the University of Florida, Dr. Stoner is the Chair of the Board of the Florida Flute Association and resides as the principal flutist in both the Ocala Symphony Orchestra and the Florida Lakes Symphony Orchestra. 

For this concert, Dr. Stoner will be accompanied by SU faculty pianist, Kiyoshi Tamagawa.
