Special Collections invites you to our third exhibition of the academic year, focusing on the work of Texas printer and book designer Carl Hertzog.

Carl Hertzog’s work exists in a majority of the libraries of Texas, and many people have unknowingly seen his work. Hertzog’s work can be breathtaking and arresting, but it is typically quiet, elegant, and well suited to its purpose. This is a testament to Hertzog’s philosophy that his work should not draw great attention to itself, but, rather, to serve the requirements and feeling of the texts he printed and the reader of the finished work. The twenty items in the exhibit aim to elucidate some of Hertzog’s lesser known work.
