The ACO will be joined by soloists, Dana Zenobi and Nicholas Simpson in three beautiful arias. The second half of the concert will be about The Planets, by Gustav Holst. The last movement, Neptune, will highlight vocalists from the Southwestern University Chorale.
Come early (6:30pm in the Caldwell-Carvey Foyer) for a Pre-concert talk with Music Director Lois Ferrari and Southwestern University Associate Professor of Physics, Mark Bottorf. As a special bonus, the Williamson County Astronomy Club will set up telescopes outside the Fine Arts Center for audience members to use after the concert.
The Austin Civic Orchestra (ACO) is a non-profit civic organization devoted to bringing high quality music to the community and providing a musical outlet for professional and non-professional musicians alike. The Orchestra is directed by Dr. Lois Ferrari, who is also a music professor at Southwestern University. ACO performs six to eight concerts each season, all of which offer programming to suit a wide variety of musical tastes, from traditional classics to pops and most everything in between.
SU students, faculty, and staff receive free admission with ID. Purchase tickets online (www.austincivicorchestra.org) or at the door (on the evening of the event, cash or check).
