Shape the Future of Southwestern and Our Community! Share your ideas for a new community on 560 acres of Southwestern-owned land contiguous to campus.

In celebration of Valentine’s Day there will be two sweet surprises next week. This is also an opportunity for everyone to participate in the planning for the development of the 560 acres contiguous to campus. Enjoy a sweet surprise while we embark on an exciting journey to shape the future of Southwestern. This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to enlarge the university’s presence, not just in terms of usage and economic resources, but also in terms of visibility, mission, and vision. Potential uses for this land can include new open spaces, housing, businesses as well as cultural and social amenities. SU’s Land Development Value Statement describes the aspirations for this long-term project that seek to expand and enhance the student experience, advance Southwestern’s core purpose, and support a long-term, economically sustainable future for Southwestern and Georgetown.

This ambitious project will take years to complete and requires extensive planning. As members of the SU community, your ideas, opinions, and creativity are invaluable in imagining what comes next for this land and our city.

We invite you to attend one of the upcoming workshops, where you can contribute your ideas and interact with Southwestern staff, architects, and planners working to develop a vision for the land.

Each Open House event lasts 3 hours - you can “Drop-In” anytime and stay for as long as you like to learn about the plans and speak with team members.
