Please join us for one of Southwestern’s long-standing annual traditions of Candlelight Service to celebrate Advent and the Christmas season. The Candlelight Worship Service is adapted from “An Advent Service of Lessons and Carols” in The United Methodist Church Book of Worship, and based on one developed in 1934 for the chapel of King’s College, Cambridge. The Season of Advent, which begins the Christian year, is the four weeks prior to the celebration of Christmas and marks the season of anticipation and preparation.

A 108-year tradition at Southwestern, Candlelight is one of the highlights of the fall semester. This service of lessons and carols welcomes our community to the chapel for a time of worship and singing.

Southwestern will host two services at 6:00 and 8:00 p.m.

Can’t make it to the event. Stream the 8:00 p.m. service live.

This event is free and open to the public, no tickets are required.

Southwestern University Food Drive to Benefit Our Community.

We are inviting those attending the Candlelight Services to consider bringing a food donation and leaving it in the Bishops Lounge during the Reception at 7:00 p.m. The beneficiaries of the Food Drive include: The Caring Place, The Georgetown Project (NEST), Pirates Pantry, and Salvation Army.

Your generosity is greatly appreciated.
