It’s the 1940s, and Alice Murphy has made a name for herself as the illustrious and infamously tough editor at the Asheville Southern Journal. Despite her professional ascendance, a tragic moment of lost and stolen love in her past has left Alice a dimmer version of the vibrant spirit she once was. When it seems like the dark cloud over her life may never lift, aspiring young writer Billy Cane arrives at the office with a handful of stories and the hopes to get published. His dream to shine leads Alice to a discovery that will finally bring her—and the ones she loves the most—back into the light.
Join us for this heartwarming southern tale, acclaimed by critic Matt Windman as “wholly original and unashamedly sentimental and romantic.”
This production runs March 26–28 at 7:30pm, with 3:00pm matinees on Saturday and Sunday. In-person performances will be at the Sarofim Open Air Theater, located next to the east side practice fields.
SU students, faculty, and staff are invited to attend in person performances at no cost. One reservation provides a seating square that seats 1-2 roommates or SU faculty/staff who reside in the same household (non-SU members are not allowed to attend on-campus events as per university guidelines). Please reserve for your preferred performance date by RSVPing on that date’s calendar event.
Registration closes at 5:00pm the day of the performance.
