A renowned guitarist and composer of flamenco and classical music, Adam del Monte inventively infuses traditional flamenco with other musical styles from around the globe to create a uniquely universal sound. He studied classical and flamenco guitar in Spain, Israel, and England, and in 1997 he was the First Prize Winner at the Stotsenberg International Classical Guitar Competition. Since then his talents have been featured in an impressive array of international projects. He performed the flamenco guitar part in Osvaldo Golijov’s double GRAMMY Award-winning opera “Ainadamar” (2006), which toured in Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Barbican Centre and other major venues. He has recorded for the soundtracks of major motion pictures including Munich, Knight and Day, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, and Toy Story 3. He performed the Concierto de Aranjuez at Disney Hall several times as a soloist with the LA Philharmonic, and he has played at the Hollywood Bowl twice. His recently composed flamenco guitar concerto, “Paisajes,” was commissioned and debuted by the St. Monica Symphony and performed with the Moscow State Symphony in Tchaikovsky Hall and the Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra in Venezuela. Soundboard Magazine has described del Monte as “a well-known proponent of the ‘new flamenco,’” and perhaps “one of the most technically gifted guitarists in the business.”
