The Empty Bowls project is an international grassroots effort to fight hunger.  The basic premise is simple: participating artists and groups create and donate bowls, then serve a simple meal.  Guests choose a bowl to keep as a reminder that there are always Empty Bowls in the world.  In exchange for a meal and the bowl, the Guest contributes a recommended minimum donation ($10 for students and $20 for faculty/staff/community).

The 2019 Southwestern University Empty Bowls project is proudly supported by Studio Art, the Student Art Association, and the Brown Symposium - Anthropocene.  The bowls are handmade by Southwestern students, staff, and faculty.  Ice cream will be served in the bowls and all proceeds from this event help support The Caring Place in Georgetown, TX.

The event will take place on Thursday, February 28 from 12:00-2:00 p.m. in the Red and Charline McCombs Campus Center, Bishops Lounge. All proceeds from this event help support The Caring Place in Georgetown, TX.
