The Office of Residence Life welcomes you to Southwestern University. We are residential campus, which means our on-campus living program is an integral part of the total student experience. We believe, and research has shown, that students who live on campus enjoy greater academic success and are more likely to achieve in other areas such as teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership.

We offer a variety of residential facilities and living options including residence halls and spacious apartments. Within each of these options you also have the choice of either single gender and co-ed residence configurations.

Fall 2020 Meal Plan Information

 

If you are not living in a residence hall that requires a meal plan (off-campus, fraternity houses, LC, and DLC) and want to cancel your current meal plan, you must do so by Friday, September 4 by contacting Joe Watkins at reslife@southwestern.edu. If you’d like to modify your meal plan, you can do that via WebAdvisor until Friday, September 11. Look for meal plan change options in the Academic Profile section of WebAdvisor.

Updated Fall 2020 Move-In Guidelines and Highlights

  • Students will need to select a new arrival window via Sign-Up Genius - all students received emails on July 24 through their building list-serv
  • We ask that parents and families work to adhere to the “Stop, Drop, and Go” plan 
    • Stop — Before arriving on campus, if your student needs additional items for their room, stop at local stores and get what you need. We kindly ask that you only drop off items once to reduce population density and multiple trips on and off campus. If you do need to drop something off after move-in, your student will have to meet you outside of their building.
    • Drop— Deliver your student’s items to their room and help them settle in. Students are limited to two guests to assist with unpacking. Guests will need to follow CDC face covering protocols and limit their time in the room to three hours. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us adhere to the Texas regulations for social distancing.
    • Go — It’s time for a final hug and to say farewell. We will take good care of your student and look forward to staying in touch with you.
  • Masks are required at all times (residents, guests, and staff) unless in your assigned room
  • Limit 2 guests/helpers per resident.
  • Limit 2 cars max per resident.
  • Students will unload their cars at a designated spot and enter the building in a controlled manner directed by Residence Life and Housing Staff. 
  • Observe the coordinated traffic patterns (inside and outside) to limit interaction with others.
  • All high traffic areas (lobbies, elevators, hallways) will be disinfected regularly during all move-in days
