Career Services

About

“Explore. Experience. Engage. - Early and Often.”

The primary mission of the Southwestern University Center for Career & Professional Development is to empower Southwestern Pirates to shape their professional identities, develop 21st century career-readiness skills, and construct well-managed professional lives.

What?

We teach career-management skills (e.g. resume writing, interviewing, job search strategies), provide opportunities to explore a variety of occupations and help students and alumni make connections to employers, graduate and professional schools and other resources. Students and alumni can access these services through visits to our office and by attending our programs.

Who?

Meet the team of award-winning, experienced and caring staff who serve Southwestern students and alumni throughout the year. In addition to four professional staff, talented student staff plus some cranially-challenged mascots are here to help.

Where?

The Center for Career & Professional Development is located in the Prothro Center for Lifelong Learning (#15 on the campus map) on University Avenue/Highway 29.  Exit 261 from I-35 in Georgetown and travel east on University/Hwy. 29.  The university is located between Maple Street and Southwestern Boulevard on your left. Visitor parking is designated on the campus parking map.

When?

The Center for Career & Professional Development is open throughout the long session (except university holidays) Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. During the summer, the office closes from 12-1 p.m. We recommend you contact us to schedule an appointment if you need to talk with a career advisor. Drop-in advising is available some days.

Why?

There’s good reason to work with Southwestern University’s Center for Career & Professional Development - whether you’re a student or graduate wants help with career development or an employer who wants to recruit new team members.  Our award-winning office consistently earns (and helps students earn) recognition.  A few examples include:
