Co-Chair, Parent Leadership Council

Good afternoon. My name is Jeanine Piskurich and as Co-Chair of the Parent Leadership Council, it is my honor to welcome you to the Installation Ceremony for our 16th President, Dr. Laura Skandera Trombley.

This historic day has been a long time coming on many fronts. Dr. Trombley is notably the first woman to hold the top leadership position here at Texas’s oldest university. She has also served formidably in the role for nearly 15 months prior to her official installation today. It’s a great thing she packed her patience and perseverance when she made the move to Georgetown in July of 2020. She is also above all her many accolades and accomplishments, a parent. Not just any parent, but the parent of a recently graduated college senior who is now gainfully employed and furthering his future. President Trombley, we stand together with you on many levels - as parents, partners and professionals supporting Southwestern University’s mission of engaging minds and transforming lives.

So please join me in congratulating Dr. Trombley and celebrating our good fortune to have such a gifted scholar, proven leader and passionate advocate for liberal-arts education at the helm of this best-in-class university. On behalf of the parents of the PLC we welcome you back to campus and are excited to join with you to be part of something significant at SU. Thank you for being here at this transformative time in the history of Southwestern as we “Shape the Future” together. Welcome home!
