CEOHP Legal and Archival Issues
The Computing Educators Oral History Project has slowly developed a core set of procedures to address the legal and long-term archival issues central to oral history projects.
We have developed a set of legal forms that meet the needs of informed consent, background information, and final granting of permission for having the interview materials in the CEOHP collection.
During 2011, we will transfer the raw materials from the accepted interviews to our archival partner, The Charles Babbage Institute. We will update this description as we make progress with this exciting endeavor.
Regarding legal issues related to oral history projects, we can recommend the following as excellent resources:
- "Is your oral history legal and ethical?" by Alan Ward; published on the website of the Oral History Society in the UK
- A Guide to Oral History and the Law by John A. Neuenschwander, Oxford University Press, Aug 2009.
