Dr. Maha Zewail Foote

I came to Southwestern University in 2003. I received a B.S. with honors in Chemistry at Caltech and laterProtein DNA received my Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Texas at Austin. There, I studied the biochemical and biological consequences of the reaction of an anti-cancer drug (Et 743) with DNA.

At Southwestern I typically teach General Chemistry as well as courses in Biochemistry.

Merck/AAAS Undergraduate Science Research ProgramMerck - AAAS Undergraduate Science Research Program
In 2004, the Chemistry and Biology departments were awarded a Merck/AAAS research grant for $60,000.  Only 14 other colleges and universities in the nation were awarded this prestigious grant.  more
