The Forum of the F.W. Olin Building is a 150 seat capacity lecture hall with multimedia presentation capabilities.
Several Classes use the AV/Presentation equipment in the Forum to enhance the classroom experience.
|
Students in Greek and Roman Mythology are shown examples of art, manuscripts, maps and artifacts of the ancient world on the large screen. These images are retrieved from a local Web page constructed by Prof. Hal Haskell of the Department of Modern and Classical Language. Using the World Wide Web, links to web sites throughout the world can be accessed for student research, study and review.
Students in Dr. Richard Denman's Calculus classes are presented with graphs of complex mathematical equations using the Mathematica software package. |
|
Students in Prof. Judy Bullington's Art History are shown slides,
videos and images of great art collections.
All this is possible through the use of a Powermac 7500/100 with a PC-DOS compatible card located in the Instructor's console. The AV equipment includes:
The large-screen LCD image in The Forum is delivered by a Barco Light Valve Video/Data projector housed in the projection booth. Dual remote-controlled slide projectors are also mounted in the booth. A video camera mounted outside the booth can record any live presentation or lecture series scheduled in the Forum venue. The camera's zoom and pan controls can be remotely manipulated from the booth or instructor console. A multi-speaker sound system complements the multimedia video systems.
