Guidelines for Chairing a Project

Chairing a project constitutes certain responsibilities. These duties allow the Service VP and Service Records VP to better run service projects and to give additional responsibility to members.

1. Service chairs should notify all participants in a service project in advance. Generally, at least 24 hours notice is ideal. Notification should consist of either email or phone calls, or both. Notification should include directions, carpooling or meeting times, assigned shifts, and/or directions to the event. Additional notification immediately before the start of a project is suggested, such as phone calls an hour before departure.

2. Service chairs should attend part or all of a project to act as the project coordinator. Service chairs should ensure that the project runs smoothly and that the APO-AGK chapter is represented well.

3. Service chairs should record attendance and hours of the participants in a service project and send the information to the Service Records VP.

Chairing a service project is a great way to do service, to act as a leader, and to show friendship. In recompense, chairs receive a higher rate of 1.5 hours of service per hour served for the chaired project.
