While most of us were recovering from finals this past break, sophomore Zach Bergstrom, along with the rest of the SU men’s and women’s basketball teams, was hard at work.
So far the men’s team has had a very average season. Their record is 4-4 in conference and 8-9 overall.
SU currently ranked third in the SCAC Western division just bellow Trinity. Bergstrom has had a stellar performance so far this year. The 6 foot 2 guard has put up some important points for the Pirates with a .349 three-point percentage. Bergstrom took some time out of his day to talk to The Megaphone.
SU: How do you feel you are performing so far this season?
Zach: I am surprised at how well I am playing right now. I love being able to play with Travis, A.C. and Ross at the same time. The game is starting to slow down more and it is easier to make plays for my team.
SU: How do you feel the team is performing so far this season?
Zach: I think our team has underachieved so far but things are starting to get on track. We have a good chance to make our mark in the SCAC.
SU: How do you feel this year’s team differs from last year’s team?
Zach: It’s basically the same team since we only had one senior last season.
SU: What are your personal goals for this season? Zach: I want to have a high field goal and free throw percentage. I want to contribute to the team in any way I can.
SU: How long have you been playing basketball?
Zach: Since I was four years old.
SU: What is your least favorite movie?
Zach: Center Stage
SU: If you could play any other sport what would it be?
Zach: I think it would be golf and then tennis after that.
SU: What is your favorite midnight snack?
Zach: Zebra Cakes
SU: If you could have any superpower what would it be?
Zach: I would want to be like Spiderman.
The SU Pirates are undefeated at home so far this season. The Pirates will take on DePauw this Friday at home at 8 p.m. SU has six more conference games at home this season and have every opportunity to do well and finish strong. Come out and support both the men and women’s basketball teams as they enter the home stretch of their season.
