Herman Brown Hall / Moody-Shearn Hall
These three-story residence halls feature separate outdoor entrances and hallways in apartment-style buildings arranged in two-room suites, with a connecting bath, to accommodate four students.
Residents in this complex have the advantage of residence hall living combined with the privacy and quiet atmosphere that an apartment-style dwelling provides. A study lounge is available at Moody-Shearn Hall. Herman Brown Hall houses first-year and upper-level men. Moody-Shearn is a mixed-gender, upper-level hall.
Herman Brown Hall, funded by The Brown Foundation, Inc. of Houston, is named for Herman Brown, who served on the University's Board of Trustees for 20 years.
Moody-Shearn Hall, funded by the Moody Foundation of Galveston, is named in honor of John Shearn, an early graduate of Rutersville College – one of Southwestern's four "root" colleges, and William Lewis Moody, Jr.
