In 2008, Iota honored the late Chuck Merrill ‘59 by endowing a scholarship to support juniors and seniors who are pre-ministerial students and/or have demonstrated interest in activities or occupations which promote peace and justice locally, nationally, or globally.
In 2006, Iota alumni made gifts totaling more than $35,000 to fund a new scholarship endowment at Southwestern. The scholarship benefits active Kappa Sigmas who are in good standing with the University and demonstrate the highest level of academic excellence and/or leadership in the University community

Kappa Sigma (Iota)

Kappa Sigma is a national men’s fraternity, one of the oldest and largest fraternities in North America, fostering a values-based fraternity environment on the principles of fellowship, leadership, scholarship and service.

The Iota Chapter was chartered locally on October 15, 1886. It was the 27th chapter chartered nationally, and second in Texas. In Iota's first century over 975 members have worn the Star and Crescent, the Symbol of Kappa Sigma.
