Dedicated teacher-scholars are the hallmark of a Southwestern education. Therefore, Southwestern aspires to add twenty-five new permanent full-time faculty positions. This initiative ensures a 10:1 student/faculty ratio, broadens curricular offerings and fosters the close, scholarly relationships so integral to an exceptional liberal arts education.

Faculty Scholarship                  $3,000,000

The University is committed to a comprehensive program of faculty development and scholarship allowing faculty to remain leaders in their disciplines and abreast of the latest developments. This commitment also serves to maintain a strong and vital academic environment for the education of students.

Paideia® Program                   $2,000,000

The intensive interaction between Paideia® Professors and Scholars requires the sustained dedication of Southwestern's faculty. To meet the needs of the developing program, participating faculty replace one course within their discipline with their Paideia® seminar responsibilities. New funding for Paideia® provides resources for general program operations and ensures that additional faculty positions can be added to sustain the curriculum at its present high level for all students.
