LATIN PLACEMENT EXAMINATION


The Latin Placement examination is intended to help us place you into the right Latin class at Southwestern. We will look also at your high school record to help us make the best placement.

You cannot “flunk” this exam. Some students may not be able to answer all the questions. Some may be blown away by translation passages. Keep in mind that the test is designed to be challenging and designed to test students with a whole range of Latin background. The better you do on this exam, the better your placement will be, and you will need fewer courses to fulfill Southwestern’s language requirement.
