2009Frantic/Fabulous Fall
Midterms were a rush, and I am glad to be done. Honestly, I am ready for some pumpkin pie. I am ready for Thanksgiving break!
I spent Halloween weekend in downtown Austin going out with friends to 6th Street (at night) and attending author lectures (during the day) hosted by the Texas Book Festival. My favorites were Barbara Ehrenreich and Willard Spiegelman. This year the festival hosted more than 200 national authors, with local food and live music, and was free to attend both Saturday and Sunday.

I snapped this during the drive down to Austin on Friday.
Last night I studied with a good friend downtown for hours… (don’t ask how late we worked). I was able to get ahead on some writing and reading (before I have two papers and an exam this week, ah!)

Also…I am officially adding a Cultural Anthropology major, and will be able to graduate with both degrees in less than four years! Last week I registered for my spring courses: ‘Visual Communication,’ ‘Ethnographic Methods,’ ‘Rhetorical Criticism,’ ‘Gender & Sexuality,’ and ‘HIV, Poverty & Culture.’ The ethnographic methods, cultural criticism and analysis of both disciplines are very complimentary, I am quite excited to still finish on time. I just can’t decide on a fitness class for spring: yoga(again), or bowling?!
P.S. Here is my interview with Dr. Dana Cloud for The Megaphone (her visit to campus last week filled every seat in Olin 110 lecture hall).
