Soooo Close!

I’ve got a new best friend. The Starbucks Doubleshot. I tried the bigger Starbucks drinks, the ones with extra energy, but they’re too sweet. And I hate Red Bull. And sometimes you need a little more kick than what’s offered by regular old coffee.

Thus, I’ve adopted the Doubleshot.

And so it begins…

Yes, here come finals. The next two weeks will be full of varying bouts of restlessness, stress, boredom, fear, loathing and, every once and a while, relief!

Luckily this year most of my finals are pretty spread out. I’ve got some this week, some next, but none on the same day. So it’ll be a lot nicer than semesters past.

The last week or so has been pretty chill, too, in preparation. Well, as far as assignments go. Extracurriculars are another story all together.

Last week was SEAK’s annual Earth Day festival outside on the Mall. It was chocked full of excitement and fun. We made smoothies out a blender powered by solar panels, swapped incandescent light bulbs for compact fluorescents, made some arts and crafts, and generally frolicked in the splendor of the day. Yes, it sounds a bit hippy-environmentalist, but I feel like Earth Day is one day a year that we’re allowed to simply enjoy nature! However, I did get a pretty nasty sunburn, which made me a little less appreciative of nature’s splendor…

The same day, SPA (Student Progressive Alliance) held a fundraising event that they’d been working hard on all semester called Make Peace! In it, different organizations and individuals from across campus performed skits, read poems, made music or, in SEAK’s case, showed a documentary that defined peace for them. SPA raised around $500 for the Rob Atkinson Memorial Fund through the National Student Peace Alliance! It was a beautiful memorial, a beautiful event and a beautiful testament to our campus’s belief in the power of peace.

Anyways, I’ve got to get back to work. UGH, soooo much to do. BUT SO CLOSE TO SUMMER!! I can almost taste Argentina!

More to come later!
