The Big Event

We’re so excited for The BIG Event 2017! 


The BIG Event is a day of service each year that gives Southwestern University students, faculty, staff, & alumni the opportunity to spend a day volunteering with local nonprofits and community partners. It is organized by Sustain, an on-campus organization, and sponsored by local businesses.

The BIG Event aims to engage Southwestern students with the Georgetown community that surrounds and supports our university.  The intent is three-fold:

  1. To raise awareness about a variety of social, political, and economic issues in Georgetown
  2. To strengthen partnerships
  3. To empower students to engage with their community 

While The BIG Event is only a single day, we hope that it will support the development of a more sustained and active relationship between Georgetown and the SU campus.
